Mr Hirst, who was imprisoned for manslaughter in 1980 for hacking his landlady to death with an axe, publically attacked Graham, who has previously served four years as a Special Constable in the Cheshire Police.
Mr Hirst accused Mr Evans of 'lawlessness' and being 'out of touch with reality' for voting against giving prisoners the vote. He has also courted controversy by launching a vile racist attack on Conservative MP, Priti Patel, who Mr Hirst called a 'Paki' and a 'foreign import'. Ms Patel is the daughter of Ugandan Indian immigrants and was born in London.
Graham Evans MP responded 'If I am being criticised by a convicted axe killer like John Hirst then I must be doing something right.'
'This is a man who served 25 years in prison for bludgeoning his landlady to death with an axe. He says he feels no remorse for the crime. He now spends his time making disgusting racist attacks. As far as I am concerned, he symbolises exactly why we should not give prisoners the vote.'
