Explaining the decision, Justice Minister Jonathan Djanogly MP, said “These announcements represent the start of an important programmed of reform for the court service. They pave the way for a better, more efficient and more modern justice system with: efficient courts, better facilities, the faster conclusion of cases for the benefit of victims, witnesses, defendants, judges and the public at large.”
Graham, who has been campaigning to save the court, commented 'Obviously, I am disappointed. I have been working closely with members of the Northwich Bench and other local residents to campaign against the closure, and I even met with the Minister to make the case for our court.”
'But Northwich residents should be very clear about who is to blame. Labour brought this country to the brink of bankruptcy. Thanks to their reckless economic mismanagement we are spending £120 million every single day just to pay off the interest on the national debt. These cuts are Labour’s legacy.”
“I’ll now be working to ensure that the impact on those affected is minimised and encouraging the Government to make much better use of technological advances to help reduce the burden on victims, witnesses and the police.”
