In the space of just a few months, we’ve achieved more than Labour did in 13 years.
The emergency budget brought Britain back from the brink of bankruptcy.
We’ve embarked on radical reforms to raise standards in our schools and to get people off benefit and into work.
We’ve introduced a cap on immigration and protected NHS spending, creating a new £200 million cancer drugs fund.
The Government has also shown it is prepared to invest in our area: approving the £431million Mersey Gateway project in Runcorn; provided extra capital funding for Mid-Cheshire College in Hartford; and backing the expansion of Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus, which will bring an estimated 6,000 high tech jobs to the area.
Personally, it’s been a big year for me. I feel incredibly privileged to have been elected to represent the communities I grew up in.
I’ve tried to hit the ground running, asking more questions in Parliament than any other new MP and dealing with more than 2,000 pieces of constituency casework.
There is no hiding from that fact that 2011 will be a challenging year, full of difficult decisions.
You can be assured I will be standing up and fighting for our part of Cheshire every step of the way.
