The Localism Bill, published by the Government last week, gives local authorities greater control over setting business rates, and affords communities more control over the services they receive.
Graham said 'There are some excellent small businesses in Runcorn but it is clear that the Labour Council have failed to respond to the problems faced in the town centre, particularly during the recent downturn. They have let both traders and residents down.'
'The Council must use their new powers to make Runcorn more attractive for businesses and for shoppers, and the best way to do that is for local people and traders to have power and a real say in the future of the town. The people of Runcorn deserve better'
