Following extensive lobbying in support of the campus by Graham (see more below), last week the Government approved a joint venute between developers Langtree, Halton Council and the Government’s Science & Technology Facilities Council.
Sceince Minister David Willetts commented “Science, technology and innovation can play a crucial role stimulating the economy. This great facility at Daresbury is an excellent example of this.”
“Daresbury has a long heritage of providing cutting edge and innovative science. This development will not only strengthen the science base at the campus, it will also drive up inward investment and increase the economic impact of science through business access to a broad range of scientific capability and facilities.”
Graham, reacting to the announcement, said “To put it simply, this is just fantastic news. 6,000 new high tech knowledge-based jobs coming to the area will have huge benefits for Daresbury and the rest of Cheshire. It is so encouraging to see the Coalition Government helping to put science at the heart of the recovery.”
